Interview With Justin Wright of Life of Justin

Justin, please give my readers a background about yourself. What made you want to start lifeofjustin.com?
I originally started my blog to document my life and the places I went. However, it eventually turned into a place where I ranted about my office job and why I hated it so much. Once I hit my tipping point, I quit my job and now use my blog as a way to share my stories about life after the cubicle.

If you had to choose one favorite destination, which one would you chose?
That's a tough one but I would say the Dominican Republic is my favorite place to date. The beaches there were amazing.

In all your travels, which country has the best tasting food? and the worst tasting food?
Well, I've only visited two countries outside of the US so I would have to say Mexico. I love Mexican food and nothing beats the real deal.

What has been the least exciting destination you've traveled to?
Florida. I migrated down there for a year and it ended up being a lot less exciting than I thought it would be. I love the Ocean but the Gulf just didn't cut it for me.

What impact has lifeofjustin.com had on your life?
A big one! I still think starting my blog is what changed everything for me. My very first client found me through my blog and that was what lead me to deciding to work for myself. Feedback from my readers has kept me motivated to keep working hard and striving to do what I love.

What has been the most surprising destination you've been to? Meaning, you had a specific mindset about a certain destination but it was totally a different experience than you had imagined.
I would say my recent move to Portland has been the most suprising destination. I had high expectations for the city but it has turned out to be even better than I expected.

If you had to decide which destination has been the most influential in your life, which destination would you chose?
Honolulu, Hawaii. Why? Immedietly after graduating college, I left the state of Wisconsin and moved to Hawaii. This move really changed my perspective on things and opened my mind to new things.

Justin, if you could travel with any celebrity for one week, who would you chose and why?
No clue, I can't say I follow many celebrities.

What advice would you give to a newbie traveler?
Just get out and give it a shot. You never know what might happen or what opportunities might popup.

In 10 years, do you see yourselves still traveling or slowing down?
I would say slowing down. I'm more of a frequent mover than a traveler and I think I finally found the place I want to stay for awhile.
